Pirate Adventure Summer 2016

Part of our summer vacation was a trip to the Pirate Ship Adventure in Cape Cod.  We met our ship in Hyannis Port, and the kids were quickly given sailor names, pirate tattoos and outfits.  We also bought swords since what pirate would be complete without one?!  Then it was off to find the treasure while battling sea monsters and other pirates found in the sea trying to get in our way.  The boys loved every minute of the two hour adventure.  It was a great morning at sea!

Last Day of Kindergarten!

Yesterday was Ben's last day of kindergarten.  I can't believe how far he has come in one year.  It's amazing to see him go from pre-schooler to little kid.  He lost 2 more teeth, went through 3 pairs of sneakers and is up nearly 2 sizes in shorts and T-shirts!  More importantly, he improved his handwriting tremendously and is now an emerging reader.  He made all new friends in a new school with new rules and expectations.  I am so proud of him and happy to see him thriving at school.  Go Ben!  : )

Still goofy and still loving his Bumble Bee blanket!

Summer is Officially Unofficially Here!

Memorial Day Weekend - the unofficial start to summer! That means that school is almost over and summer is around the corner.  This teacher mama is ready!  The pool opened this weekend and we were there every day.  We are so lucky to have a great pool in our neighborhood as well as great neighbors to share it with.  Tons of kids swimming and enough chairs for everyone to lay in!
The boys also got in plenty of bike riding and playing outside, and they've already got the scraped up knees and toes to prove it!
We enjoyed a local music festival on Saturday and a cookout with family and friends on Sunday evening and loved having the extra day off from work and school to enjoy together.  Cheers to summer!

New Normal

We are getting into a pattern around here, and it feels pretty good.  Tommy is getting bigger so he is eating more and sleeping for longer stretches, which is very nice for us.  Ben is solidly in his school routine and has come around to the idea of a little brother.  Knock on wood - there have been no big brother to little brother beatings in a few weeks.  Go Ben!  Hehe!

At Tommy's 7 week check up he was comfortably wearing 3-6 month clothes and weighed in at 11 pounds, 11 ounces.  I was surprised to hear that he was "only" in the 50th percentile.  He seems so heavy to me!

We are keeping busy and moving through our summer.  It's going by so fast!  Chris has taken up guitar lessons again, I am getting ready to go back to work and have started to run again.  It's so much easier with my new jogger!  Ben is working on his listening ears...something that seems to get the best of him more often than not.  Funny how his hearing test says he can hear perfectly fine, but he just can't seem to listen when you want him to clean up!

Ben after dinner.  "No, mommy, no!"

Post run with Tommy.  He's obviously over it...
